People fear what they do not understand; 99.9% of America does not understand Islam, therefore, they fear it. A few months ago I viewed a documentary on PBS that stated atheists knew more about Islam than most Americans; Jewish people were next in line for the most endowed with knowledge concerning Islam, and of course their own religion. Islamophobia, this is a good word for the unknown, misunderstood disorder.
